This has been a huge week for Star Wars fans. Our favorite holiday came and went on May 4th, and we’ve been soaking in the fandom love ever since. There aren’t many movie or TV franchises that have their own internationally-recognized holidays. The only other one I can think of is «Festivus» from Seinfeld, which I’m not sure is as popular as «May the 4th Be With You.»
Maybe it’s because the pun works so well or maybe it’s because our love of Star Wars is so vast that we need to get our sillies out on a huge scale, but it’s a great day of the year. You get to be your full unabashed self without having to worry about whether or not you look like a geek. On May 4th, everyone is a geek. We all want to bake Grogu cupcakes and talk about the plot holes in Rogue One. It’s finally socially acceptable to do that.
