If you had a lightsaber, what color would you want it to be? Of course, the good guys usually have blue and green, and bad guys usually have red, but maybe you feel like being a bad guy. Maybe you feel like causing a little bit of havoc and getting a little bit crazy. Maybe you want to be feared and respected and not just tolerated. Then maybe you’d pick red. There’s no official canon for who gets what color lightsaber, though fans have plenty of theories of their own. 

The fact that Mace Windu has a purple lightsaber… says something. Not totally sure what, except for that Samuel L Jackson really liked the color purple and asked for his lightsaber to be purple. Maybe it means he’s caught between the light side and the dark. Maybe it’s because that’s the type of crystal his character was given. We will never know.
