Following the flop of the Tyson/Paul fight, Netflix is once again trying to make live events happen. This time they are putting world-class climber Alex Honnold’s life on the line. The show features a free solo climbing attempt of the tallest skyscraper in Taiwan on Skyscraper Live. Netflix thinks this new stunt will put live streaming on the forefront of their platform. Because of Honnold’s ambitious nature and, perhaps, over-inflated confidence, the 40-year-old athlete and father of two, has agreed to put his life on the line (again) for global media.
Except, this time, he will have Netflix drones following his every move, documenting every nerve-wracking bead of sweat on his palms, and no doubt wishing for a life-or-death slipup for the sake of good television. This leaves viewers to wonder, who will fail first? Alex Honnold’s footwork, or Netflix’s waning morality?
