Would you have been able to enjoy a first-class seat, knowing your loved one is stuck in economy somewhere in the back of the plane?
We’re not sure we would have, but the husband in the story below doesn’t seem to have this problem.
While planning a vacation with his family, this husband decided to use his SkyMiles to upgrade his seats on the flight there and back, but didn’t offer to do the same for his wife. Since they are arriving on different days for the family vacation, they would only be together on the flight back, but he still didn’t even think to offer to upgrade both their seats on that flight, instead of just doing it for himself.
He just wanted those first-class tickets all to himself, and he had no problem letting his wife sit in the back of the plane while he was enjoying the luxury.
What is even weirder is when the wife found out, she offered to upgrade her own seat to first-class so they could be together on the flight back, but the husband refused. Instead, he offered her his ticket and told her he would sit in economy instead. And if that wasn’t enough, he then took that offer back a few weeks later, which led to another confrontation between the two and only left the wife even more confused about her husband’s intentions.
What is this guy’s problem? Any decent husband would love to spoil his wife with a first-class plane ticket and would do anything to have that shared experience together. Even if they couldn’t afford two tickets, you would think the husband would gladly give away his ticket so that his wife could enjoy the luxury of first-class.
Instead, this guy is sending mixed signals and generally making his wife feel like she is in the wrong. All that he is doing is making her feel like she is asking too much of him and showing her that his comfort is more important than hers.
What would you have done in this situation? And how would you have reacted if you discovered your partner did the same to you?
