Being around a cat has never been conducive to being productive.

We have all seen how they act when there is a human or two who is working from home. They cause trouble in far-flung corners of the house, meaning that somebody has to get up and stop them from making mischief. They continually complain for food and attention. The walk right across the screen whenever people are trying to conduct a Zoom meeting (admittedly, this is often the highlight of the working day for everyone else involved). They also have the most counterproductive fascination with computers—I have been working around a cat recently, and she has taken great pleasure in rolling all over my laptop keyboard.

Despite every single thing they do to try to derail our work days, they are that much better for having them around most of the time. Even when they are being annoying, they are cute and entertaining enough to give a welcome reprieve from back-to-back meetings and staring at a screen.

If we have no choice but to be screen-focused, the great news is that they can also provide us with some fun in this instance. Cat memes are woven into the fabric of internet culture at this point, and the supply shows no sign of drying up any time soon. No matter how stressful the day, our feline friends, as reimagined through silly images, are only a few clicks away. There is always more where that came from, as with the examples below.
