Many parents will do everything they can to make sure their kids have the best start to adulthood.
Depending on the resources they have available to them, this can involve any number of things. Sometimes this involves putting in a good word for them at a job, or helping them with a college application; maybe, depending on their budget, they gift them a car or even a house.
However, by far one of the most common scenarios in this era of skyrocketing housing costs is that parents will let their adult children live with them for free or for vastly reduced rent. It is an expense that many kids are all too happy to keep to a minimum, even if living with family as an adult can have its frustrations. When looking to save a little money, it is the obvious move to make.
That being said, just because parents are happy to let their kids live with them doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t make some kind of financial contribution to the household. If they have a healthy salary, it is only fair that they play their part. In all likelihood, they will still be spending a lot less money than they would be on the rental market.
