Parents may have a secret favorite child, but they’re never supposed to show it. 

Although this mom didn’t necessarily favor the stepdaughter on a personal level, she certainly showered her with gifts, first choices, and anything she ever wanted in an attempt to make a good impression. The problem is, all while courting favor with the stepdaughter, she was pushing away her biological firstborn. 

By the time high school graduation rolled around, the mother had firmly made her choice clear on which of her children was the Golden Child, and the biodaughter, making peace with that, told her the blunt truth that she’d never been the first choice, so why start now? Telling her mom like it is, this teen stood up for herself and demanded that her mom do what she always does when her graduation overlapped with her sister’s: choose the stepsibling.
