For a large number of people, cooking is an unavoidable part of the daily routine.

Did you know that cooking rates have actually increased in the past couple of decades? Larger percentages of men and women have been whipping things up in the kitchen, and spending more minutes per day doing so. More or less, all of these wannabe chefs spend about an hour a day cooking. Considering every other responsibility that comes with modern life, that is no small feat.

The thing is, most of us enjoy tasty food, and we have better access to it when we understand how to make it ourselves. However, as the saying goes, we can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Not every recipe is going to be a triumph, and sometimes, we are going to be more focused on giving ourselves and our loved ones some simple fuel than creating something mouthwatering. That is just the way it goes.

Thankfully, we live in an age where there is a meme for every scenario, and our kitchen exploits are no exception. Cooking memes celebrate foods both delicious and truly stomach-turning, all in the name of giving us some culinary humor to enjoy. Seeing as so many of us purport to know our way around a stove, they offer an important service. Sometimes cooking is fun, but other times, it’s a chore, and a few silly jokes help us in our quest to fill our bellies with something that we have made ourselves.
