Warehouse employee reports safety issue, company changes his job title without telling him: ‘I never signed anything, never got a new offer letter, and nobody told me this was a formal change’

Caring about the safety of your coworkers should not be a punishable offence.

Arguably, one of the most important parts of any workplace is upholding regulations that keep employees safe and secure. The consequences of an incident occurring could be catastrophic to both the company and the worker involved. It is simply too much of a risk to be lax about safety.

Unfortunately, the thousands of accidents that happen on a yearly basis are proof that this is not a way of thinking that happens in every professional environment. Many businesses are more interested in pursuing profit and efficiency above every other part of the process, and they may eventually pay the price.

So long as they don’t have to do that, though, they are happy to turn a blind eye to any potentially dangerous transgressions. If it doesn’t turn into anything major, it doesn’t have to be their problem. This is an attitude that trickles down to employees, to the extent that those who don’t agree may even suffer for it.
