Happy Monday, everyone. I know those aren’t exactly the two words most people want to see together. But here I am, and here you are. Two hardworking employees staring at each other. The weekend flew by, your alarm dragged you back to reality, and now it’s time to open your laptop and pretend you’re ready to be productive.
Before we get into any of that, though, there’s one Monday tradition that doesn’t ask anything of you… Our weekly work meme roundup. Because I’m convinced that the first part of Monday should count as a transition period, don’t you think? You can’t spend two days doing your own thing and then, all of a sudden, switch into answering emails and making business decisions. Your brain needs a minute to catch up. At least mine certainly does. I need coffee, a quiet moment staring into space without a single thought, and enough time to remember what I was working on before the weekend. After that, I can start off.
Every hard worker handles Mondays however they can. There’s always that one coworker who shows up full of energy, says good morning to everyone in the most cheerful mood, and finishes three tasks before you’ve even dared to open your inbox. I admire those people, but I just can’t relate to them. The rest of us, the mere mortals, log in on time but don’t feel awake until much later.
The good news is Monday gets easier once you’ve settled in. And that’s the purpose of our weekly meme meeting. If you’re scrolling through work memes while your brain slowly comes back online, you’re in good company. After our meeting, you can reply to that email you’ve been putting off and check it off your to-do list. First, you need a little workplace humor in your Monday routine. Work is serious enough, so why not laugh at the everyday moments that come with it? So think of this meeting as your warm-up before getting to work. Whether you end the day as the Employee of the Month or the person who made it through Monday, that’s still worth celebrating.
