14-year-old constantly insults her friend’s parents «white people food» every time she comes over for dinner: ‘I’m just really not a fan of being insulted repeatedly.’

Should the mom say something? Or not let this kid eat dinner at her house anymore?

Parents often find themselves not liking their kids’ friends, and not really knowing what to do about it. On one hand, you don’t want to alienate your child from the people they are closest to, especially if they have a difficult time making new close friends. On the other hand, you don’t want to be tortured every time your kid’s friend comes over, especially if you have to hang out with their awful parents while the kids play.

These cases are usually not black-and-white. A friend of your kids might do one thing that annoys you. You either have to deal with it or decide that you’re not going to let your kid invite their friend over anymore. It could be something as petty as a kid’s voice being annoying, or something as severe as a kid stealing your credit card out of your wallet and using it to purchase $3000 worth of Gems on an app. If your kid’s friend does the latter, you’re protecting your family by not letting that kid into your house.

What if a kid does something that’s kind of uncouth, but ultimately harmless? The girl in this story is making fun of her friend’s parents’ cooking, saying it’s not good because it’s white people’s food. The mom is conflicted about what to do, because she knows her daughter likes her friend, but she’s tired of cooking for somebody who constantly insults her cooking. Who wouldn’t be upset about that?
