Couple uses roommate’s private bathroom despite having a master bedroom with their own en-suite, calls her “petty and hostile” when she asks them to stop

Sharing a house requires compromise, but boundaries get blurry when convenience starts overriding an agreement everyone made from the start.

If there’s a type of relationship that’s very unique and special is the roommate one. There’s something so strange about moving in with a person you don’t know and somehow start sharing with them every second of your day. With time, the relationship resembles a friendship mixed with sibling manners if everything goes right, or it can be the worst thing ever if those two people cannot get along.

If you want to have a good relationship with your roommate, respecting each other’s privacy and personal things is extremely important… not like the case shared by u/Murky-Spread-822. According to her, she moved in with a couple, and right from the get-go she was given her own bathroom (located in the hallway), while the couple kept the master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, just for them.

But things can never be this simple…

For some reason, a dynamic started to develop with the couple. Whenever they wanted to use a bathroom, they would go to the roommate’s one instead of their own, inside their bedroom. There wasn’t a reason as to why this began to happen, so the roomate polity asked them to stop. Instead of apologizing and starting to use their own, they called her hostile and petty, and that is absurd to use their own bathroom whenever they wanted while using the common areas.

And, not only that: they even went cold on her whenever they were all in together… sounds terrible if you ask me. She did fine in demanding that they stop using a bathroom she’s the one paying for. They have their own that’s in perfect condition, so there’s really no reason as to why they do this.

Like I said at the beginning, a relationship with a roommate can be a really good one, or a really bad one. There’s no in between. And I hope she can get this situation fixed and sorted out… It’s a pity to have to live with people who are not willing to respect your own things.
