Bride refuses to let 6-year-old flower girl wear her princess dress to her wedding, despite her sister’s insistence that her daughter wear the princess dress: ‘It’s her signature, and she feels more comfortable in it.’

Why is her mother encouraging this?

One of the worst things about weddings is that everyone likes to make it about themselves. A lot of wedding guests don’t care if their behavior upsets the couple getting married because they’re accustomed to getting their way, even when the event isn’t about them at all.

The little girl in this story wants to wear her princess dress to her aunt’s wedding. Instead of encouraging her to wear the pretty white dress that the bride picked out, her mother is asking the bride to capitulate to her daughter’s desires. Since when do we let kids make all of the decisions?
