If being a homebody were a profession, I’d be a professional
I haven’t left my house all weekend. I’m not necessarily proud of it, but it is what it is. I’ve been resting, writing, and watching The Handmaid’s Tale. I know it’s old, but I hadn’t seen it!
Yesterday, I did the unthinkable. A friend invited me to a party to celebrate her birthday, and I pretended to be asleep to skip it. I know it was the worst thing to do, but I couldn’t confront the issue then. Really, most of my friends love going out at night, and I hate it. I like going for coffee in the afternoon or chill plans like that, but I hate going out at night. I’m sleepy, and I mostly don’t enjoy the options available.
Like, what am I supposed to do in a huge, empty square building with loud electronic music blasting from some speakers and so many people you can barely move? Of course, some people will say dance, but why are we all suddenly pretending anyone can distinguish what the loud noises are? I think we are all lying to ourselves, and people only want to be out and have drinks. Nobody is there for the music because you CAN’T HEAR THE MUSIC. Gosh, it irritates me.
Some people say it’s age, or they treat me like I’m too young to act this old, but I have always been like this. It’s not an age thing. Can we all accept that some people like going out at night and others don’t? I hate feeling discriminated against.
I guess I really need to make friends with people who like the same plans I do- go out with them in the afternoon or go camping; I don’t know. I’m sure the same people who complain about me never joining in would never join me for a five AM run, huh?
