If we’re talking about some of our favourite childhood shows, Victorious is definitely at the top of the list. Disney and Nickelodeon dominated the scene for shows for teenagers throughout the early 2000s and 2010’s, and this one was and still is a fan favourite and a comfort show when you need to watch something light and funny, but that also has excellent songs.
Victorious is the show I keep going back to over and over again. I can’t believe after all these years I still find it funny, especially because the shows you watch when you’re a kid don’t usually age very well when you get older. But this one is still funny, and I end up cracking up every time I put an episode on.
I’ll be honest, I still haven’t seen the reboot. And I haven’t decided if I will. I love the original show, and I’m afraid they might mess it up with this second generation. Of course, I should give it a chance before giving my opinion, but so far, nostalgia is winning, and I don’t want to watch it yet. Nope, I will just go back to the original one more time to remember what it feels like and to hear that amazing soundtrack.
Remember the songs? They were amazing! All the cast was tremendously talented, and they could out-sing basically anyone. I still have many of the songs in my regular playlists, and let me tell you, they have aged wonderfully. ‘Freak the Freak Out’ was one of my favourites, and Cat and Jade’s duet was what I call ICONIC. They did get away with some weird plotlines, as every teenage show does, like Robbie starting a gossip show and exposing everybody’s problems. Or Tori’s mom cheating on her dad and treating everything like a joke. Or, my favourite, when the kids get locked up by an evil dictator while being on vacation in some minuscule country on the other side of the world, and bail themselves out through song. Yeah, some weird moments, for sure. And some great memes we can enjoy!
