G’day mate! I’ve got a bit of something for you to think about.
For most of us, when we head out of the house, we’re worried about three things: keys, wallet, phone. Checking each necessary pocket to make sure we have life’s essentials. But for Aussies, when it’s late in the arvo and you want to pop on your thongs and trackies to pop out in the ute and head down to the servo, you have so much more you have to worry about.
I’d have to imagine that when you head out the door in Australia you’re looking over your shoulder, watching for some spider that looks like Shelob from Lord of the Rings to drop down on your head. Simultaneously, checking your ankles for any snakes that might be lurking about. Then you have to dodge past the swooping magpie as you duck under the old tree out front and box a kangaroo before you can finally jump into the ute and tear out. Even then, there might be a Huntsman spider lurking under the sun visor, waiting to jump out at you right as you’re heading around a bend in the road.
So, next time you step out onto the back deck or popping out for a snagga to pop on the barbie, no matter where you are and what the weather’s like, you can at least thank goodness that wherever you are, you can (probably) be out here without worrying about some treacherous monster that is any species of Australian wildlife lurking about.
