‘Mostly, I hate the way I don’t hate you’: 10 Things I Hate About You Moments That We Too Can’t Hate, Not Even Close

«Make anyone cry today?» Yeah, myself.

Some say film magic relies heavily on special effects and stunts. The wonders of cinematography, combined with the latest technological creations, bring us some of the best productions. Well, I couldn’t disagree more. I don’t think the magic of film has much to do with how it looks, but with how it makes us feel. Some of my favorite movies are quite low budget and have no impressive CGI explosions or complicated choreography. They are simply authentic. Their sheer honesty is what makes them, in my eyes, magical.

10 Things I Hate About You is one of them. I think movies and good stories come into your life exactly where they’re supposed to. I was 14 years old, an angsty teenager with a lot of small-big problems trying to figure out how to be me. Thinking, like teenagers usually do, that there was a right way to grow into an adult, and anything far from that mold was not permitted. Trying to match the expectations of the world, and not my own. That’s when I met Kat. A girl who was not afraid to speak her mind and show her true self. A girl who had some strong opinions about the world and had no problem sharing them. A true icon.

Today, 10 Things I Hate About You is 27 years old and, as much as life has changed for everyone, it still remains a masterpiece. It is time to dive back into it, remember what we loved in the first place, and revisit some of the very needed lessons these characters gave to us, just in case we forgot and need to be reminded. So, inspired by the unmatched Julia Stiles’ creativity, enjoy this trip to one of the best times of our lives, with a list of the 26 Things I Love About This Wonderful Movie.
