Sometimes imagination plays tricks on all of us, and we can’t always trust what our eyes are showing us…
People usually say that ‘you have to see it to believe it,’ like you can’t trust something unless you can corroborate it yourself and see it with your own eyes. Most of the time, they’re right. We can’t go about life just believing everything we’re told without proof, but the mistake here is believing that our own eyes tell us the truth all the time. Newsflash: they don’t. Nope, our brain and eyes sometimes get bored and decide to play pranks on us, leaving us more confused about how the world works than we already are.
I say this because of my own experience: my eyes get capricious and choose not to work. For reference, I wear glasses all the time and some days even with them on I have to double-check what I’m seeing. Of course, there are many things involved in how my eyes choose to behave on one day or another. If it’s too late at night, if I’m tired, or if I was watching some sort of weird fantasy shows that were playing with my sanity, my vision becomes the least trustworthy thing in the room at that precise moment. So yeah, I’ve had my fair share of confusing moments when I think I’m seeing double, or that suddenly my cat can fly, but it turns out it’s just a shadow. I’m not kidding, y’all. One day I was walking down the street going to the gym when I saw that further down the block there was a black cat all curled up in the middle of the sidewalk. I was thinking, ‘Such irresponsible neighbors, how come they let their cat sleep on the street?’ When I came closer, it turned out it wasn’t a cat: it was a small pile of trash. That’s how trustworthy my eyes are.
And on that note, you can imagine what kind of hilarious photos I have for you today. I want everybody to be as confused as I was, and you know, laugh a little as well.
