Some of your favorite couples are together because of cheating. I’m not just talking about iconic celebrity relationships like Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini, but the people in your life have life-affirming, lifelong unions because one of them decided to cheat! I’m so grateful that my friend Ella’s dad cheated on his girlfriend and Ella’s mom cheated on her boyfriend at the same time, because if they hadn’t cheated, Ella would have never been born!
Unless you’ve had a decades-long relationship and have no continued contact with the person you cheated on, you’re probably not going to brag about finding your current partner through cheating. There’s a huge social stigma on it for a reason, and people are always trying to do whatever they can to avoid being judged by others. But for the most part, cheaters do deserve to be judged. It’s not a morally neutral act by any means.
