Becoming a parent requires that a person play countless different roles in the life of their child. You are their caregiver, teacher, and number one supporter all rolled into one—if you’re doing it right, that is. 

As we all know, there are plenty of parents in this world who fail miserably to fulfill their role. While their incompetence and unreliability may not prove a surprise to their kids, the longer they have to deal with it, that doesn’t make it any less of a painful experience to deal with.

Often, it is a lack of effort that stings most, such as failing to turn up to celebrate a child’s achievements. A graduation is a pivotal point in any person’s life, and you might think that even the most lackluster of parents might find it easy enough to turn up and be there for their kid. Unfortunately, that sometimes isn’t the case.
