Don’t you wish sometimes that you were an expert scientist who had answers for everything?

If you are of a nerdy nature like me, you probably wish you had enough time to learn a bit of every topic in every field. There is knowledge that could come in handy for moments when you’re completely at a loss. But we have to face the facts: there’s not enough time in life to learn everything there is about every area. So we have to be smart about it and choose carefully what we throw ourselves into. 

That’s why the Manga Anime series Dr. Stone rules. It’s about a group of people who have to rebuild civilization after all of humanity was turned to stone. The main character is an expert chemist who knows how to build every artifact ever invented by humans. His big brain becomes really useful when he and his friends find themselves with the challenge of rebuilding civilization from scratch.

Several years pass as all of humanity is stone when the main characters wake up and find themselves in the middle of a forest with no intelligent life for miles. That forest used to be their city. And the world they knew no longer existed. Sounds a little frightening, but I promise it’s not. It’s actually very funny and super interesting. Since every modern invention has now disappeared, they have to fend for themselves with what they have. And they have almost nothing, except for the main character’s intelligence. He pretty much single-handedly keeps them alive by knowing what plants to eat, where to find the materials they need, and how to fabricate any device they lack. Seeing them build a recording machine with a recycled glass bottle is a moment that lives forever engraved in my brain. 

Besides giving us a bunch of free tutorials of building things we never thought we would need (like a war tank), Dr. Stone also gives us a smart amount of memes to study.
