Do you know a big part of the reason that these so-called ‘large language models’ are supposedly so great at all of the things that people increasingly rely on them for? They are out there scraping the internet for all the ponderings, poetry, rants, and other juicy tidbits that its greatest (and not-so-greatest) minds have produced, and regurgitating them back to us in a slightly more convenient form. While it has to be said that there can be benefits to this, the true joy of the World Wide Web has always been randomly stumbling upon a nugget of entertainment gold, whether that be linguistic or otherwise. There is also a middle ground to be had between AI and going digging into the dark recesses of various platforms, and that is demonstrated right here and now. The internet is constantly producing new sentences for our viewing pleasure, and I think that’s beautiful.
