2000s Memes For People Who Actually Remember Y2K

A considerable portion of the young population thinks Y2K is only a clothing style. While Gen Z teens love claiming the early 2000s as an aesthetic, they are utterly clueless about the historical events that defined the early aughts. For those of you who remember the 2000s but not New Year’s Eve 1999, I will fill you in. Before the new millennium began, most computer calendars only used the last two numbers to distinguish the year: ’99 instead of 1999. Everyone was terrified that when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve 1999, all of the computers would not be able to handle the ’00 and shut down. People were advised to turn off their computers before midnight on December 31st, 1999, to avoid any catastrophe. Luckily, nothing happened, and the new millennium has been going just swimmingly ever since. If you remember Y2K and the rest of the 2000s, these nostalgic memes will send you down memory lane.
