Now more than ever, it’s important to honor art in the best way modern folks know hom: Memes, memes, and more memes. Now, I know that there are many young and upcoming art historians in the world, but making art digestible and accessible to all is another great way to get the public interested in it. 

Classical art memes, which have been around for decades at this point, make a point to show the similarities between subjects and painters in the classical era and those who exist today. Our senses of humor show obvious overlap, which just underscores the humanity of it all. What do we have in common with someone from centuries before us? Human nature. Self-deprecating in nature, classical art memes often take on a nihilistic, existentialist tone. This is frequently because the artwork used in the memes portray clearly displeased individuals.
