I have a confession to make… I studied film in college. This meant that I was surrounded by one of culture’s most fascinating breeds: the film bro. The bros who won’t shut up about Kurosawa, worship at the altar of Christopher Nolan, and will roll their eyes at you when you said you enjoyed Ladybird. These bros might as well have the Criterion Collection logo tattooed on their foreheads. And heaven forbid you call it a «movie» in their presence. Spending precious classroom hours with these dudes took a toll on my spirit, but it was also satisfying to watch them grow from 18-year-old Dark Night stans into 22-year-old men who could at least name 1 or 2 female directors. This is the work of film school.
