I am not the most visual person, but that doesn’t mean I can’t judge graphic design. I look at print media now constantly, and I always have some visceral reaction when I see an unattractive ad on the subway. If you live in New York, you’ve probably seen those super-stylized Tinder Ads on the subway where couples in saturated, colorful outfits do things together in a visually stimulating alternate universe. I still haven’t been able to decide if I like those ads or not. I’m not sure it even really matters if I like it…what matters is that I stare at it every day and, therefore, think about the brand more often than I typically would. Isn’t it lovely how design can take up so much of our mind palaces?
