It’s incredibly easy to overstate the dubious morals of cheaters. I don’t think that Ingrid Bergman should’ve spent as many years of her career as she did in retreat from Hollywood for the sole crime of having an affair, especially because that affair-turned-marriage created someone as wonderful as IIsabella Rossellini. If you’ve been tuned into Mulaney discourse over the past 4 years, you’ve probably seen some parasocial people bemoaning the horrible moral transgressions of John Mulaney for having an affair baby with Olivia Munn after being in a relationship with his wife for 8 years. 

While it’s easy for some to condemn cheaters as unsavable sinners, it’s just as easy for me to brush aside these incidents as plot points in the lives of artists I love and respect. If I were to write off every author, actor, comedian, or singer who had ever cheated on a partner, I’d have nobody to stan.
