Halloween in the 90s was the best kind of Halloween. You would wear your sick Power Rangers costume to school, and everyone would be jealous. And you know you would spend the evening trick-or-treating, getting crunch bars, and seeing all of your friends’ costumes. That is, if your mom didn’t ruin it by making you wear a puffy jacket over it. Then you’d come back to your house and trade candy with your friends. That was arguably the best part. Then maybe you’d tuck in to watch a scary movie, but a classically scary one like Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street. You weren’t jaded enough to see how wonky the special effects were. You were genuinely chilled to the bone. You would definitely have to sleep with the lights on.
But you loved it because it was Halloween, and that was exactly what you were supposed to do. Being a kid on Halloween is the best. Nobody can tell you you’re too old to trick or treat. Halloween now is a little bit different, but not necessarily bad.
