Dogs all have unique personalities. You know this if you’ve ever met more than one dog. They’re not all alike, just like humans. Some of them are shy and take a bit of warming up. Some wear their personalities on their sleeve, wagging their tail at everyone they meet. Some dogs are chill, mellow guys who don’t like to be bothered. Some are bouncing off the walls at every turn. It’s a combination of nature and nurture, just like us. They have some inherent traits that make them who they are, and they’re also affected by the way we choose to raise them. We are their parents, after all. 

This is why it’s so common for couples to adopt a dog when they’re thinking about having children. It’s a pretty good practice run to see what you’re going to be like as parents, and what kind of creature you might be capable of raising.
