They say that dogs are man’s best friend, and I don’t think that’s a statement either party would disagree with. Though we humans see dogs as our furry little sidekicks, dogs might relate more to Bella Baxter in Poor Things and her relationship to her father/creator Godwin, who she aptly calls «God.» Humans have so much control over our animals that it’s not out of the realm of possibility that they see us as all-knowing but luckily benevolent creatures beyond this realm. We control where they live, where they go, and what they eat (when they’re not being naughty and rummaging through the trash). 

But who knows, maybe they see through it and know it’s all a ruse, and that we’re just as fallible and lowly as any other creature. We won’t know the truth until a real Dr. Doolittle comes around and shows us. But at least we have dog memes to give us some insight.
