The Westminster Dog Show was this past week, which to my surprise, is not in England but in fact in Queens, New York. Makes it seem a little less fancy, right? But that didn’t stop the doggos from arriving in their Sunday best, and their owners from spending tens of thousands of dollars to get them primped, primed, and ready for action. This year’s Best in Show was Sage the Miniature Poodle, a black fluffy icon with a haircut befitting of a Tim Burton movie. I wonder if she knows that she won, or if she was just happy to be there. 

I also recently learned that there is very little at stake, in terms of prizes, for these shows. There’s no prize money or sponsorship deals, it’s all for the love of the game. I guess it’s unclear what a miniature poodle would even do with $50,000. But I’m sure her owners could come up with something. But whether you’re best in show or participation-ribbon receiver, you’ll appreciate these memes.
