Well, in all honesty, I missed my therapy appointment by accident this week. Did it cause me to crash out and cry at work? Perhaps. Am I feeling any better about it now? No, not really. Was my therapist a sweet angel about it and rescheduled it for next week? Yes, she and I go way back. Did I immediately need to dissociate and start searching for memes to make this post? You better believe it! Did that make me feel a little better? Oh, baby, you know it!
Memes are a little band-aid for a larger issue that makes your heart flutter with whimsy and head giggle with silly and/or dark humor. It’s worth the risk of doomscrolling because when your crashing out, you need a distraction. Something light and silly, aka memes! Just for a little bit. Until you can breathe again and your heart stops pounding like it’s trying to crawl out of your throat. Then, you can get to the real healing. But right now, memes pleaseeeeeee!
