It seems that almost everyone can name a time when they spectacularly failed in the kitchen. Maybe they burned something that doesn’t seem like it can be burned (one time I burned hard-boiled eggs). Maybe you put a pot on the stove that definitely isn’t supposed to go on the stove. Maybe you threw a frozen pizza in the oven with nothing underneath it and then it melted into a steaming pile of pizza goo at the bottom of your oven. Even if you’re a pro chef, odds are you’ve done something majorly boneheaded like that. Failure is part of human nature. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we’re just a little bit stupid sometimes. 

In these situations, it’s important not to despair. You may feel like the dumbest person on the planet if you didn’t know that you couldn’t put aluminum foil in the microwave, but heaven knows you’re not the only one.
