We did it. There’s a new animal that we’re all obsessing over. And his name is Jimothy. He’s a raccoon that’s been spotted around Seattle who gained fame due to his unusual appearance. Due to a probable spinal difference, he looks, well, like a little round ball of fluff. He’s a volleyball-shaped raccoon, and he’s adorable to watch. He’s got an attitude all of his own, and there is nothing like it. It seems that every couple of months, we as the internet fixate on a new animal. There’s something about them that makes them different or special, and we attach a narrative to them so that we can relate to their story. Who hasn’t felt a little strange or a little different? Sometimes we’re made to feel ashamed of those traits, when we should really be embracing them. Jimothy has become the poster child for accepting yourself in all your differences. You should really be letting your freak flag fly, as it were. What is it about animals that is so relatable and watchable to us? We love when a little furry friend has a personality of their own. They can’t speak our language, so we get to interpret them however we’d like to. They easily become symbols for us to project onto, and it makes us feel all the feelings. Jimothy is no exception. He has a whole bucket of personality, and he can’t help it.
