Humans love it when words rhyme (If I am representative of humanity in any way). There’s something very pleasing to our ears about it. I think it’s part of the reason we gravitate so much toward music. When lyrics rhyme, something in our psyches feels satisfied. It closes a loop, it finishes a thought, and it makes us feel like everything is happening just the way it should. This is why we have phrases like «fake it ‘til you make it» «chick flick» or «you snooze you lose.»
We could have easily said «Put on a show until you are accepted,» «Movies made with a female audience in mind,» or «If you’re late, you might not get what you want.» But those phrases just don’t stick in our minds. Sometimes we’re like babies, and we need things told to us in sing-song form or we’re just never going to remember them.
