There’s nothing like a good day on the town. Maybe you have the day off and nothing to do and you want to do a little sightseeing. Maybe you have folks visiting that you want to show around. Maybe you’re tired of sitting on your behind all day and you want to get some steps in. This is when, in the words of Petula Clark, «You can always go downtown. When you’ve got worries, all the noise and the hurry seems to help, I know, downtown.»
There is something incredibly true about this. Being around a large swarm of people helps you take your mind off of the insignificance in your head. When you’re working your way through a crowd, you stop being an individual and start being a member of a community. And if you don’t have a town to go to, you have the internet. The world’s interconnected downtown.
