I aspire to be a law-abiding citizen. Since jaywalking became legal in NYC, my days of crime have officially ended, and I’m grateful to be living an honest, above-board life. Although aspiring to lawfulness is admirable, not all laws make sense or uphold justice, which is necessary to keep the social fabric of society intact. The only reason that loitering (literally just standing around in public) is illegal is to criminalize the mere existence of certain groups that are perceived as undesirable. It is unlawful to chew or sell gum in Singapore, and it has been since 1992. You won’t go to jail for life for doing it, but it will set you back a couple of thousand dollars, and that’s reason enough for most Singaporeans. If you are only interested in lawful internet browsing, you’ve come to the right place. These memes are 100% legal, not to mention 100% absurd.
