We’ve all heard the classic joke, «What’s black and white and red all over?» The tried and true answer is a newspaper (it works better when it’s said out loud and not typed), but when I was a kid, I didn’t understand why a heavily injured penguin wouldn’t be an acceptable response. There are so many classic jokes that go over less than brilliant children’s heads. Take, for instance, the classic, «Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side.» For years, I thought the joke was the redundancy and obviousness of his journey, but it turns out it’s been about crossing over to the spiritual realm the entire time. Go figure. 

These memes really are black and white and read all over. They are much less colorful than your average meme list, so they really might evoke reading the weekday funny pages of the newspaper.
