Midwesterners are simple people. When the weather is nice, we want a hot dog and a cold beer while sitting on someone’s porch. That’s the peal of living right there, and we demand nothing more. We don’t need fancy restaurants or hoity-toity cocktails, we just need a cool Hamm’s and some kind of processed meat. It’s because Midwesterners are humble folk. We like what we like, and we don’t need a lot of extra hullaballoo. Our land is flat, and we have nothing to hide. All that we are is out in the open, even if sometimes we conceal our true feelings with a classic Midwestern smile.
This is one of the reasons I love being a Midwesterner. There’s a humbleness to it that you don’t get on the coasts. You don’t have to put on any airs or pretend like you’re anything you’re not. Your Mike from Petoskee and that is enough.
