Gaming is a powerful pastime. It can make hours disappear in an instant. It can turn a day into a second. They say time is relative, and you never feel that more than when you’re deep in a video game that is taking all your attention. You can spend all day at work, and 8 hours will feel like 30. But put me in a good Mario Kart tournament, and days will pass without me knowing. This goes to show just how powerful they are. Video games don’t care that you have to eat and sleep. They have better things for you to do. They have more exciting stuff to show you. 

Sometimes, this is necessary. Sometimes you just wish you had an escape hatch on your current moment, and video games can give you that. They can take you directly out of your misery and into something else. There’s not a lot else in the world that can do that for you. But you have to be careful with that power. You might just lose out on valuable time in your life.
