One of the best things about being a parent is getting to see your child thrive. For example, if you get to see them in a school play, scoring a goal in their soccer game, or finishing a painting so good that you hang it on the fridge. These are the moments where you get to sit back and look at the majesty of your creation. You did it. You were a good parent. But these moments are even more rewarding when they’re not only succeeding in something in a conventional way but in an unconventional way. 

Maybe they’re not number one on the basketball court, but boy do they come up with creative insults when they’re berating you for asking them to wear shoes to school. Hearing them come up with the «freaking dumb monkey eater» to describe you… will bring a proud tear to the eye. It’s not all straight A’s and leading roles.
