There are so many awesome examples of parents in movies and TV. One of them that immediately springs to mind is Bob and Linda from Bob’s Burgers. Those are real parents to me. They’re sweet, they’re kooky, they’re loving, and they’re a little bit befuddled by all the nonsense that their kids put them through. They’re not unrealistically perfect or over-the-top horrible, they’re just regular dudes. Another great example is the parents in «Are You There God, It’s Me, Margaret.» Talk about genuine, realistic, but sweet parenting. They’re the type of parents that you wish you could have grown up with/ emulate.
But we’re far from perfect as real-life parents. It’s impossible not to be. Parenting doesn’t just happen when you’re at your best, it also happens when you’re at your worst. Because guess what? It’s continuous. It doesn’t stop when you go to bed go on vacation or hire a babysitter. You’re still a parent.
