For some reason, there’s nothing more satisfying to the human experience than saving approximately $0.01 on Amazon Prime Day.

It’s that special little bubble of excitement that rises in our throats when we add a self-mobile mini vacuum to our carts, despite already having three in the laundry room, all tragically broken after one use.

Then suddenly, a hot pink litter box starts calling our name. Add to cart! Sure, we don’t have a cat yet, but owning the litter box feels like a deeply motivating step toward finally getting our little furry friend.

Before we know it, our cart totals the equivalent of two month’s salary, and we find ourselves explaining to our husbands that it wasn’t us, it was the Amazon Prime Gods who took over our minds and evil little purchasing fingers. We swear we had nothing to do with it…

As Prime Day approaches, let’s gently remind ourselves: your mortgage and marriage are more important than that new edition Bosch dishwasher and the matching baby blue Smeg kettle and toaster set. (and yes, we know it’s 30% off!)
