Star Wars fans know that in 2 short years, we will get the 50-year anniversary of Star Wars. That’s hard to imagine. 50 years feels like a heck of a long time, and yet Star Wars is still something we talk about with regularity. It’s more popular of a franchise than it was back then. Arguably, it’s more popular than ever. I wonder what will happen at the 100-year anniversary of Star Wars. Everyone involved with the making of the original film will be long gone (barring some science fiction-level medical interventions). And it will enter the public domain. 

Will fans still be as invested in it as we are now? Will there still be spinoffs and sequels and miniseries and video games? Or will it be more of a relic than a fandom with a stronghold? I have to imagine that it will still be a big deal.
