Many of us Star Wars fans have never lived in a world without Star Wars. If you were born after 1977, then you literally don’t know what it’s like to inhabit the Earth without it. Isn’t that strange to think about? It has shaped culture in such a key way that it’s hard to remember it wasn’t always like this. Now special effects are so advanced that our sense of wonder is diminished. We know what it looks like when you blow up the Death Star, we don’t have to imagine. It’s hard to wow us these days, it’s sort of a shame. 

But you can regain access to this by remembering the first time you watched a Star Wars film. Perhaps you were a kid, and your childlike wonder exploded to the max. Maybe you were a little bit older and there was a moment when you thought «I see why people like this.» Either way, there was a time before you saw, before you knew.
