There’s nothing quite like sifting through used clothes for hours just to finally find the perfect piece. It doesn’t always happen, real thrifters know that not every at-bat results in a home run, but when it does, it hits hard. 

When Macklemore invented thrifting in 2012, the world wasn’t quite ready yet. We were preoccupied with our fast fashion and our mall hauls, but when he said «I wear your granddad’s clothes, I look incredible,» we started to listen. We found out how fun it was to go to the local Goodwill and see all the dirt-cheap offerings and opportunities for funky style choices. «If we buy something here,» we thought, «the odds that anyone else will have it too are slim to none.» And the rest is history. We’ve been bin-diving and thrift-flipping ever since. And now it’s such a popular activity that we’re making memes about it. Such is the cycle of life.
