26 Baffling Design Choices Found in the Wild (April 6, 2025)

Sometimes you need things to fall apart so you can put them back together and start over. Maybe you’re meeting someone for the first time and you really blow it in your introduction. You mishear their name, you say your own name wrong, and you accidentally mistake them for another person. You can’t believe how badly you’re messing it up. So you say «This was a terrible interaction, I’m sorry. Let’s pretend like this never happened and start again.»

Then the other person graciously obliges, and you’re off to the races again. You needed to acknowledge the failure before you could proceed to success. Things fell apart, but they might grow again, stronger, healthier. You rip out the roots knowing that the soil is all wrong, and you re-plant it in better, fresher soil. The examples below prove this rule. They may have gone horribly, hilariously wrong, but they have the chance to grow anew once again.
