These designs are off the rails… literally.
Have you ever walked into a room and just known that there was something wrong? You didn’t have your finger on what exactly it was, but something about the energy of the room just made you feel off-kilter. If you’re anything like me, this happens to you sometimes. Sometimes, the way a room is laid out or designed makes it feel inhospitable to you. The couch is in the wrong place, the wall art is hung too high, and everything just feels a little bit wonky. This can have a great effect on the way you feel when you’re in it. Maybe you have that friend’s house that you’re never quite comfortable in because of the way they’ve set it up. On the flipside, you have that other friend’s house, which you never that you never wanna leave because it’s so comfortable and cozy.
Hopefully, you’ve set your life up in a way that feels good to you. When you open the door to your home, you should feel yourself relax. And sometimes it’s something as simple as adjusting the lighting to make sure it’s not hurting your eyes, and other times it’s the feeling of everything being in the right place. Your stuff is where you want it to be, and nothing is where it shouldn’t be. Sure, you can survive in all types of situations, but can you thrive? Good design is necessary in order to truly thrive, in my opinion. That’s why these design failures are so upsetting.
