A term that has become popular on the internet to describe a type of less-than-aspirational character is a «failson» or a «faildaughter.» Failsons might live in their parent’s basement, might be addicted to video games, and may have made a lot less of himself than it seemed like he was going to. A faildaughter might not have a job, still relies on her parents to feed her and clothe her, and might have a hard time booking doctor’s appointments by herself.
No judgment on any of these, except that there’s inherent judgment in the word «fail.» We really only reserve it for things that have gone particularly badly, FUBAR if you will. A fail is a complete miss. A failure is the absence of a success. We know this word well here at Cheezburger.com. But we also aim to put a more positive spin on that word, because failures are not all bad.
