Brunch isn’t just a meal, it’s a lifestyle. It’s a chance to dish all the dirt from the previous night in the clear light of day. It’s an opportunity to order something you would never order during the week, like an Oreo waffle or a fried chicken tower. It’s also become the bastion for sanctioned day drinking, as long as there is some amount of orange juice in your bev. 

The concept of brunch definitely peaked in the mid-2010s when the «basic white girl» aesthetic was being honed. Everyone was talking about avocado toast and iced coffee, and brunch was the natural outlet for both of those things. But I’m predicting that brunch culture will make a major comeback since everyone is obsessed with their coffee orders these days.
